Amazing first night!
Hunter had an amazing first night in his crib! His momma was a wreck for the first hour or so. He only got up one time to eat! Fantastic! I hope he continues to do well!

3 weeks old and lots of firsts today!
Where does time go! Hunter has gotten so big! We put away three outfits that he had already outgrown! Dad got Hunters crib all ready with the monitor so we could try to have him sleep in there and see if he likes it better! We did a trial run during the day and he slept in his big boy bed for the first time like a champ! (Mom watched the monitor like a hawk) Hunter has been sleeping in a pack and play in our room....(Ok lets get real....only sometimes...the other time he is sleeping its with one of us holding him in the recliner!) We are hoping that he will like his own soft bed a lot better than the pack-in-play! I think it might be a bigger adjustment for us than it will be him.
We had our first tummy time today! Not a fan so far! But whats new!?
He seems to be doing much better on the new formula! Not as fussy! We will see tonight if he sleeps better...New formula and new bed...he may be a new little man!
Funny story: Today when I was holding little Hunter waiting for Dad to make a bottle, I had my face down with his face and he started sucking on my nose. That's one hungry boy!

We peed ourselves......again.
My goodness..... This is becoming a new thing. Apparently Hunters parents are not learning to cover up the family jewels. Hunter peed a stream that went all over his face and in his mouth, again. Which led to another bath. (His second Full bath.) He was soo mad during the whole thing. Baths seem to be the worst thing ever to him! Hoping to have a more pleasurable experience with the more baths that we take because mom always had pictured in her head to get to play with Hunter while he bathes....Right now we are just screaming bloody murder!
This evening we switched to a new formula! We were on Similac and we are trying Enfamil Gentlease. We asked several of our mommy friends and they all said that might help! Hunters tummy has been soo upset on the Similac. We switched him cold turkey so I am really hoping his little tummy is not too upset with the switch!
Possum and Gary came to see us for the first time! We were so excited to have them here! Hopefully they will come again and bring Kyle with them! They have all prayed so much and hard for Hunter so they were excited to meet him and hold him!
Gramps, Grammy, and Auntie Em' left us today. :( We were sad to see them leave! We really have enjoyed having them here! They were great company! Lucky for us they will be returning in less than 2 weeks to help out when mom has her surgery!

The Hayes' are here!
Our first Submersion bath = Just as traumatic as the sponge bath!
Today Gramps, Grammy and Auntie Em' came to stay with us for the next couple days.... Mom and Dad are very excited to have them here! We opened gifts and Hunter received an awesome outfit from Auntie Em'..Looks like he will be ready for Loggin' soon, or maybe just watching the logging show with Dad!
All three of them watched Hunter while we ran some errands!
While Hunter was getting his diaper changed in the evening he streamlined Grammy and Dad...and his head.....therefore we got to give him his first submersion bath (We got cleared to do this yesterday from the doctor so it was only a matter of time before we got to do this! )....He did not like it one bit.. Like not at all folks! See above picture for the reality of our screams.....

2 Week Dr. Appointment
Today we had our two week Dr. appointment. Hunter weighed 8lbs 2 oz. He was 20.5 inches long (This is 1/2 an inch shorter than what they said he was in the hospital), and his circumference of his head was 14". We have one growing boy! We increased his formula today from 2 oz every 3 hours to 2.5 ounces every 3 hours. He has done great with it and we have not had any problems! The doctor said that we could give him some gas drops and that should help him to not be so uncomfortable after his formula! Boy was she right! It is night and day different! WOW! Thank you modern medicine!
Papa Peacock and Katherine came over to see us today and brought Hunter a Christmas present! Poppy also came over tonight as well and ate dinner with us!

White Christmas!
We had a very merry white Christmas! Nana Shana, Mimi and Mom made a great lunch! Poppy came to enjoy it with us! Papa and Grandaddy were already here staying with us!
Dad and Grandaddy talked all morning while the girls were making food!
Dad did a great job keeping Mr. Hunter occupied and fed.... Hunter was not a happy camper today. He was pretty cranky with an upset tummy!
Hunter started grabbing my hair today.... It was only a matter of time before that started!
We all got some great gifts and had a great time enjoying each others company!
Hunter got his first Christmas ornament from Mimi, and a wonderful horse statue for his room from Poppy! He is blessed to have so many people that care for him! (Mom and Dad are happy the noise toys haven't started!)

Pictures today!
Happy 2 weeks old!!!
We had a great day today! Hunter only got up at 2:30 this morning for a bottle....then we woke up for the day about 5:30 am.
Dad ran the soundboard at church this morning so we had to be there a tad early.
It was also picture day today!!!!! Michael Graham came at 4:00 to take Hunters pictures and he did an amazing job! I can't wait to post them!
We had a great time while be was taking the pictures! Hunter peed on us twice and pooped all over well everything!!! He even got it in his hair! Then we left the outfit Grammy made for hunter in our room (the one that had poop all over it) so we could move on with the pictures quickly and Maddie decided she would help us clean it and lick off all the poop! O M G. Gross!!!

Grammy and Auntie Em' came to see us!
It was a big day today! Grammy and Auntie Em' came to see Hunter! Mom needed to run to Andrews, Tx to pick up her embroidery machine so Auntie Em went with her to keep her awake while she drove and Hunter got to spend the morning and afternoon with GRAMMY! She said that she made him laugh a lot by singing him "Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer".... They stayed and had dinner with us....We had spaghetti that was brought to us by the Donai's from church! YUMMY! This evening we face-timed with Nana Shana and took a bath! We are still not liking baths AT ALL!
I meant to post this video of Mr. Hunter Yesterday but Ben and I have been so tired I forgot! He was sure snoring ( I think) up a storm.....He most definitely was the only one catching some zzzzzzz's.
I think that we are finally out of our growth spurt and back to the baby we know! It most definitely was a ROUGH couple days! So blessed to be feeling tired from this little man though! We are in love and blessed!

We went to the doctor...
Today was a great day! Hunter was in a great mood today and slept the majority of the day. He has been a little wheezy and congested so Ben and I called the doctor to see if there was anything that we could do to help him out. She said that she wanted us to come in to make sure that his lungs were clear and they were. She said that the reason that he is making those noises is because mucus is stuck in his throat and unlike adults, infants cannot cough it up. Interesting. She also told us that we could put Vaseline on his face and it would clear up the rash. Hunter weighed 7 lbs 10 oz!
Ben thinks that is it funny that Hunter will not eat a whole bottle with me! He is definitely a daddy's boy right now. He will always eat the whole bottle for Ben. That little stinker!
The Fords from church brought over a pizza for us for dinner! It was really good!
As I was making cookies this evening, I came across these two snoozing on the recliner....couldn't resist...i had to take a picture!

8 days old!
We had a great night last night! We tried not waking Hunter up to feed every three hours and just purposely waking him up at 3. But he woke up at 2:30 and let us know he was hungry! Perfect timing!!! Then we put him to bed and fed him again at 6, and continued feeding him every three hours during the day! This was much better on mommy and daddy's sleep schedule too!
We started off the morning feeding/ diaper change with our umbilical cord falling off! We were so excited! Almost like we unwrapped a present!!! Ben and I looked at each other and pondered over saving it!? But we have this little guy on a pedistal... So of course we did! Ben says that I save everything.... and it's true!
At our 2 o'clock feeding Hunter held his bottle all by himself! Wow!!

First day at Church, First bath, 1 week old
1 WEEK OLD TODAY!!!!!
Today we were honored and overwhelmed with emotion as we took our little guy up to the alter at church to pray at one week old. Holding something and someone that is such a precious gift that we have been in constant prayer over for over the past two years...Through all of the sorrow that Ben and I have encountered with starting our little family, we got to finally lay it to rest. We happily and graciously got to give all the glory to God and thank him properly. He is wonderful. We are thankful. God is good.

Saturday with the family!
Today was a very eventful day for us! It was the last day of Nana Shana being here with us. We were very glad that she got to be here for the week and help us with everything that we could possibly imagine. Make yummy meals for us and hold Hunter to let Mommy and Daddy sleep a little extra! Mom was very sad to see her go!Today we had a TON of dirty diapers and several catastrophes while changing diapers... which led to 3 outfit changes. We started out the morning by Hunter accidently peeing while mom and dad changed his diaper and it went into his mouth! Worst. Parents. Ever. Hunter ended the peeing madness by peeing on Ben while he was holding him, so they both had to change clothes.
At about 9 o'clock in the morning, the Hayes Grandparents showed up with Auntie Em' and Uncle Casey! It was the first time for Auntie Em' to see Hunter and she brought him some AWESOME KState gear to wear!
Hunter also cried so much today that we got to see his FIRST tears! EEK!
Mom and Dad got to catch a few extra needed zzzzz's while the grandparents were here. We had a really rough night the night before!

Hunters First Year!
This blog is dedicated to:
Hunter Asaph Hayes
On the Morning of Sunday December 9th we were set to induce at University Medical Center at 6:00 am. We set 4 alarms to make sure that we would not over sleep! We were so excited to be able to do this on Grandpa Silsby's birthday!
A lot of family came to wait with us for Hunter to arrive. We had Russell Lusk (Poppy), Phillip and Shana Hass (Grandaddy and Nana), Doug and (Tadhi Hayes (T.B.D. and Grammy), Casey Hayes (Greatest Uncle in the World), and Boog and Mary Wallace (Papa Boog and Mimi).
We were so glad that they all could be here to help us bring you into the world.
By the time that they got Alana hooked up to the medicine and checked in it was about 8:00 am.
We were frantically trying to finish the Baby Wise book to make sure that we were ready to get this little boy on a schedule as soon as he arrived.
Alana was so hot all day. We had the air conditioner in the 60's. She practically froze everybody out of the room.
Hunter arrived at 4:34 pm weighing 7lbs, 7oz. He was 21 inches long! Mom and Dad were so elated to have Hunter finally here.
